1954 Albany 200th Anniversary, Cradle of the Union MS64 Prooflike NGC. HK-511, R.7. Gold. 38 mm. The City of Albany, New York, celebrated its bicentennial with a Cradle of the Union fair in June, 1954. A medal was issued, and featured the Albany Stadt Huys of 1754. The reverse depicts Benjamin Franklin's well known "Join or Die" cartoon of a cut snake, each piece representing a different colony. Examples were struck in silver, gold, and bronze. The 900 Fine gold variety had a mintage of 50 pieces and today is listed as Rarity-7 (11 to 20 known).
