Comment

The Marseille Industrial Show is open to industrialists and manufacturers from all over France. Housed in a gallery and annex on the Cours du Chapitre (Square Stalingrad), it attracted 1,100 exhibitors; the products on display were divided into fifteen product classes. Heating appliances are included in the second class. The Godin-Lemaire foundries and factories in Guise exhibited in the latter, as did the Godin-Jeune foundry in Étreux (Aisne), created by Jean-Baptiste André Godin's younger brother, Barthélémy Godin. The Manufacture de Guise was awarded a bronze medal.

The medal offered as a reward to exhibitors at the Marseille industrial exhibition in 1861 features a nude head of Napoleon III in profile to the left on the obverse, signed "Barre", and the coat of arms of the city of Marseille on a maritime trophy background on the reverse.
