Flotille 17F is based at the Landivisiau naval air station. It was the first airborne formation to be equipped with the Super Etendard Modernisé (SEM). The SEM, currently at standard IV, is equipped with an advanced weapons system enabling it to carry out the following missions day and night:

Nuclear deterrence :
Land assault and low-to-medium-altitude fire support
Laser designation by coupling illuminator and gunner aircraft
Night attack using the Damocles Pod
Air/Sea assault
Reconnaissance
Low- and medium-altitude interception
In-flight refueling.

Biscarosse has been the godmother city of the 17F since March 09, 2013.
