Necessity token for the Hôtel Clesse, 65, avenue de la Gare, Luxembourg City. The former property of widow Anna Lamarle-Clesse was demolished in 1894, and the new building opened its doors in 1896. The hotel and restaurant had 32 rooms. At the rear, in the former kitchen garden, Auguste Lamarle still kept over 35,000 snails. The Hotel Clesse subsequently changed ownership several times, closing its doors for good in 1964.Three tokens are known for the Hôtel Clesse, the other two have a face value of 10 and 50 centimes. Token minted at Atelier J. Balme in Saumur.
