In the early 1920s, Jean-Pierre dit Jemp Daubenfeld and Marguerite Pleimling ran a café on Rue de la Poste in Luxembourg. Alongside his establishment, he was present at fairs with food and beverage outlets. In February 1926, he bought the "Café du Parc" in Bonnevoie on the corner of rue Irmine and rue du Parc for FLux 123,000. The Daubenfeld-Pleimling couple also set up a hairdressing salon.Jemp Daubenfeld died in April 1954, and the café was subsequently rented out. Following the death of the widow Pleimling in 1955, the heirs sold the café and hairdressing salon for a total of 1,600,000 Flux.
Token listed by R. Weiller in his 2nd book as # ML 479. Token undetermined when R. Weiller wrote his 1st book [cf. Mα 013].
Token of indeterminate Weiller typology, without intermediate house name, struck at the Fisch & Co workshop in Brussels. The reverse die appears to be unique in Luxembourg. Charles Goedert, bowling manufacturer from 1932 to ≥ 1953, has not been found on any other Luxembourg token.
