Medal issued by County Citizens Committee concurrent with but "as an independent part of" County observance of Jamestown Festival, then celebrating 350th anniversary of Jamestown landing. Design of piece "commemorates the past...inscription...concerns itself with the present." Accompanying medal was copy of "Declaration," original of which hangs in county courthouse, protesting certain decisions of U.S. Supreme Court pertaining to desegregation.

Medal designed by E. R. Lafferty, Richmond; 5,000 pieces struck by Wendell-Northwestern; sold by The Clerk's Office, King William for $1.
