Comment

The hole in this token shows deterioration. You can make out the word VIANDE on the obverse and the coat of arms of the city of Tours on the reverse.

The Tours food company is an establishment where food is prepared and delivered. Only members can buy food, and members are divided into two categories:

- those who can eat in the establishment ;

- those who can take food home.

To prevent fraud, a token system is in place.

This principle is also used in many other towns in France.
