This medal is part of a series depicting the legends of the Brocéliande forest near the French commune of Paimpont in the Ille et Vilaine department, Brittany region.
In the past, when a Celtic tribe chose a place to found a new settlement, it always did so around a large tree, as this sacred element of nature was a source of protection, luck and knowledge, among other things. The Celts called this tree thetree of life. https://www.lefrontal.com/les-symboles-celtiques-et-leur-signification
