Pegasus Bridge is the name given to the Bénouville bridge after the Second World War operations on June 6, 1944, in honor of the British paratroopers whose emblem was the winged horse Pegasus. It was inaugurated on March 11, 19451. It was located on the canal from Caen to the sea, in Normandy. During Operation Deadstick, part of Operation Tonga, the code name for the capture of the bridge was Euston 1.
Its seizure by British commandos, who arrived by night in gliders, was one of the high points of the Normandy landings on D-Day. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasus_Bridge

Pegasus (Ancient Greek Πήγασος / Pḗgasos, Latin Pegasus) is a divine winged horse, one of the most famous fantasy creatures of Greek mythology. Usually white, with Poseidon as his father, Pegasus is born with his brother Chrysaor from the blood of the Gorgon Medusa, when she is beheaded by the hero Perseus. According to Greco-Roman poets, he ascends to heaven after his birth and enters the service of Zeus, who charges him with bringing lightning and thunder to Olympus. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%A9gase
