The puy of Lemptégy is a volcano of the chain of Puys, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, a volcanic zone of metropolitan France still potentially active (said to be dormant). It is also, by arrangement, a naturalist museum presenting an open-air volcano interior excavated by careful exploitation of non-cohesive or poorly cohesive materials, the pozzolan, thus highlighting the internal architecture of the eruptive vents, namely the central volcanic chimneys and a system of lateral dykes. An exhibition and in season, animations, complete the installation.
