The oldest remains of aurochs have been dated to around 2 million years ago, in India. The Indian subspecies was the first to appear. During the Pleistocene, the species migrated westwards to the Middle East (western Asia), as well as eastwards. They reached Europe around 270,000 years ago. South Asian domestic cattle, or zebu, are descended from Indian aurochs on the edge of the Thar Desert; zebu are drought-resistant. Domestic yak, gayal and Bali cattle are not descended from aurochs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AurochsPrice
