Château de Saint-Mesmin-la-Ville is located in the commune of Saint-André-sur-Sèvre in the Deux-Sèvres département.
However, the château bears the name of a commune in the Vendée department, less than two kilometers away: Saint-Mesmin. A feud of several families since the 14th century, it was only in 1793 that any real feat of arms took place. After a long period of disrepair, the château was restored in the 1980s, and is now the property of a joint association of the Vendée and Deux-Sèvres départements.
