This distinctive jellyfish has a circular, cup-shaped body. Its endoderm is white and transparent, and its ectoderm, also transparent, is often slightly bluish or pinkish. Its umbrella is surrounded by hundreds of long, thin, white, filamentous, stinging tentacles, which capture and paralyze the small zooplankton it feeds on, carrying them to its mouth.
