The abbey of Vaucelles (formerly Notre-Dame de Vaucelles) was a monastery of Cistercian monks. Founded in 1131 by St. Bernard himself, it is located about thirteen kilometers southwest of Cambrai (Nord department), in the valley of the Escaut, in the municipality of Les Rues-des-Vignes. It was suppressed in 1790.It had in its walls the largest Cistercian abbey church in the world. A large part of the abbey is totally destroyed, but the outline of the old buildings is marked on the ground. The site also houses a medieval garden that can be visited.
