The École spéciale militaire was created by the law of 11 Floréal Year X (1 May 1802) by order of the First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte, who first installed it in the Château de Fontainebleau (decree of 8 Pluviôse Year XI (28 January 1803)), the command was then entrusted to General Bellavène (1770-1824). On January 7, 1805, the school became the "Special Imperial Military School" (ESIM) because Napoleon Bonaparte was proclaimed emperor (Napoleon I) by the Senate and crowned on December 2, 1804. Second lieutenant Lafforgue was the first Saint-Cyrien to fall on the field of honor. On December 2 of the same year, the battle of Austerlitz took place and many Saint-Cyriens fell during what will remain one of the most brilliant Napoleonic victories. This date has since remained in the memory of Saint-Cyrians as the "2S" (see the Traditions section) and is the subject of an annual historical re-enactment at the school. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89cole_sp%C3%A9ciale_militaire_de_Saint-Cyr
