Between 1220 and 1222, Philippe Auguste commissioned Maître Eudes to oversee work on several fortresses at the same time: Dourdan and Montreuil-Bellay; a new castle was built on the site of the Capetian castle. Philippe Auguste's most accomplished castle, it takes on the characteristics of Philippian castles of the period, comparable to the castles of Gisors or Angers and, to a lesser extent, the Louvre. Characteristic of the military architecture of the period, it was built on a square plan, protected by corner towers and an isolated keep. The château was surrounded by a moat, which also isolated the keep. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_DourdanThis token is available from the museum in the château courtyard.
