It has been the most important of the Cretan Minoan palaces since its discovery in 1878. Associated with the legend of King Minos' palace, the site, occupied since 7000 BC, was probably the capital of Crete during the Minoan period3. The ruins of Knossos were discovered in 1878 by a Cretan antiquarian, Minos Kalokairinos. He led the first excavations, uncovering stores in the west wing of the palace, as well as elements of the façade. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cnossos
