This token is struck by Pichard Balme in Saumur, a subsidiary of Arthus Bertrand since its takeover in 1999.
Rodin's method for making his large-scale sculptures was to employ sculptor-practitioners, who would create one or more plaster versions at different scales from the clay model he had modeled. Then Le Baiser was made in plaster to scale 1 (the version in the Musée Rodin-Meudon, where you can see the crosses and markers used by the pointers), which rough out the marble block, before being finished and polished by specialized practitioners: Turcan, Rigaud, or Dolivet. As Rodin was unable to carve marble himself, he supervised the work of his assistants, occasionally correcting them or incorporating the findings of his sculptors. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Baiser_(Rodin)
