This token is struck by Pichard Balme in Saumur, a subsidiary of Arthus Bertrand since its takeover in 1999.
The Simca cinq (Fiat 500 Topolino A) is a small, popular two-seater "for less than 10,000 francs" (9,900 francs), designed by Fiat engineers in Turin before the Second World War. It was first presented at the first Simca-Fiat factory in Nanterre on March 10, 1936, three months before the Italian version, and 46,472 examples were produced, with :
independent front wheels; four-speed gearbox; hydraulic drum brakes on all four wheels; 12-volt battery ...
Simca's management explained: "We are ahead of the wishes expressed on the other side of the Rhine", alluding to Volkswagen's future German "Beetle", which would not come out until 1938 and would also enjoy a brilliant career.
Production was delayed by the strikes following the Popular Front victory in 1936. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simca_5
