Comment

Henri François d'Aguesseau (1668-1751), magistrate, head of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Paris Parliament, then Chancellor of France in 1717, is well known to historians and jurists alike. The legislation of which he was the promoter and intellectual leader inspires many of the articles of the Civil Code.
