This bust is very rare.
The obverse and reverse legends are of great interest. This token is part of the Corporations series.
Under the Ancien Régime, the dyeing trades were divided into three categories: large and good dyers, small dyers and silk, wool and thread dyers. The former, who are the subject of this article, worked fine fabrics with the most esteemed dyes, such as inde and fleurée. The latter use mediocre dyes, mainly the so-called "boiler or molded black" (CGB).
