Comment

The Chambre aux deniers is "a kind of accounting chamber set up for the personal expenses of the king, or rather the king's household" (Charles Préau, Étude sur la Chambre aux deniers du roi du XIIe au XVIe siècle). It was also known as the "chambre aux deniers de l'hôtel", and was regularly established from the reign of Saint Louis onwards. Expenses for the offices of Paneterie, Echansonnerie, Cuisine, Fruiterie, Écurie and Fourrière were settled by the Chambre aux deniers, which received funds from the Chambre du Trésor.
