Comment

This token commemorating the birth of Louis de France, said the Grand Dauphin, born November 1, 1661 in Fontainebleau. If it is undated, the token therefore certainly dates from 1662.

 DAUPHIN - LOUIS V, GREAT DOLPHIN OR BISHOP (01/11/1661 - 14/04/1711)
Son of Louis XIV and Marie-Thérèse, Louis de France or "lord" was born in Fontainebleau in 1661. The Prince discredited by Saint-Simon, he married Marie-Anne of Bavaria in 1679 with whom he had three sons; Louis, Duke of Burgundy; Philippe, Duke of Anjou (later Philip V of Spain) and Charles, Duke of Berry. Cultured and generous, he received a solid education by the finest minds of the century, he enjoyed the opera and the arts. Often organizer of the pleasures of the court, he also loved hunting. Located on the ground floor of Versailles, his apartment is a collector kingdom, admired by all. He participated in the Rhine campaign - that revealed a great soldier, fearless and kind. Combined with the advice from 1691, but it remains discreet involved in serious issues. He died in 1711, his death cruelly affecting Louis XIV.
