In 1833, a vast space at 359 rue St-Honoré was transformed into a concert hall. The venue alternated between concerts and balls. In 1836, the owner christened the establishment Bal St-Honoré. In 1838, under the impetus of Valentino, conductor of the Opéra Comique, who gave his name to the company, the ball became very popular.
