Second type with large and fine typeThe refiners worked at the Mint. Their number was regulated in the 17th century, and their function established as an office. In 1689, there were four of them, under the control of the Mint Court. In 1760, their offices were merged with the corporation of gold minters. According to Jean Tricou, these tokens were used for internal control purposes, as passes rather than remuneration.
