This logic of stripping to enrich is that of the Royal Treasury's tokens, which see the taxes levied as investments in the country's wealth. However, this token does not seem to have come from this administration. In the past, it was customary to give a treizain at the wedding mass. It was blessed and signified the entry into community of property for the spouses. The treizain, which later became a medal or wedding pledge, was named in honor of Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles. This practice continued until the first half of the 20th century. The reference work on this subject is Jules Florange, Amour et mariage en numismatique, Moulins, 1936 (CGB).
