Imperial (Pedro I or Pedro II) gold Ingot of Serro Frio 1831, Prober 1831-SF-31, 55.05gms. Foundry of Serro Frio, (1778 - 1833). An incredible ingot of 1831, struck during the transitional year of the two Brazilian Emperors, Pedro I and Pedro II. Instinctively one would think this piece was still struck under Pedro I rule, but there is no way to know for certain unless the Guia (or certificate) is to be found. It is significant that we are just able to see the "ring of stars" in the counterstamp and how the stars become spheres. This is consistent with other Ingots of the time struck at the Foundry of Serro Frio. This is the fifth and last Brazilian ingot in Dr. Monteiro's collection.
