Translation: On 1 March 1848, the Revolutionary Column descended from La Chaux-de-Fonds and installed in the Castle of Neuchâtel the provisional government of the republic, which had been formed on the same day in the town hall of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The commemorative monument was inaugurated in 1910.
