Alexander Walsh, the proprietor of Walsh's General Store, was well known for his interest in horticultural matters. To say Mr. Walsh was an interesting individual would be an understatement; his business of more than 30 years along with his varied interests are only a glimpse into the life of a prominent man who kept company with men of the stature as Governor DeWitt Clinton, the Marquis de Lafayette, and Henry Clay.
