The tin machine pictured on the obverse was patented by Seth Peck (1781 - 1842) of Hartford, Connecticut on April 23, 1819.Connecticut Herald, Dec. 17, 1822
It would seem that J. & C. Peck were relatives of the inventor, but information about them and their business has not been found.
