Henry C. Crossman (1805-1881) per his obituary in the New York Times “embarked in business as a manufacturer of umbrellas and parasols in 1832 and accumulated a large fortune.” This is one of two types of tokens made for him. They have different obverses. This one, HT-244 has an eagle and HT-243 has a Liberty head facing left. Their reverses are identical showing an umbrella. This token is R-2, 501-1250 known.
