The Halifax Herald - originally The Morning Herald - was a major newspaper in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1874 to 1949, when it merged with its competitor The Chronicle to form The Chronicle Herald. These medallions, also made in bronze and possibly silver, were sold as a fundraising effort to support Canadian soldiers returning from service in the Boer War in South Africa.
