The Perret Tower was built by architect and entrepreneur Auguste Perret in 1924 in anticipation of the 1925 International White Coal Exhibition on the production, transport and distribution of electrical energy, and tourism, the second most important source of economic activity in the Alps at the turn of the century.
The 95-metre-high, octagonal structure rests on a 15-metre foundation of seventy-two reinforced concrete piles, joined at the top by a slab and supported on a hard layer of gravel. The framework consists of eight vertical posts. The tower has a diameter of 8 metres at the base. The top floor can be reached by spiral staircases (visible in the openwork terminal section) or by elevator. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_Perret_(Grenoble)
