La Bastille is a military fort 264 meters above the city of Grenoble. Built in the first part of the 19th century at an altitude of 476 meters1 on the last foothills of the Chartreuse massif, it replaced an earlier fortification built at the end of the 16th century.
Accessible by cable car, on foot or by car, the Bastille, which also gives its name to the hill, is the leading tourist site in the Grenoble area, with 600,000 visitors a year. As a result, the Grenoble metropolitan authority has installed a webcam on the roof of the cable car's upper station, offering Internet users a 220° panoramic photograph of the city every twenty minutes. Thanks to the archiving of these photographs, which have been available for consultation since July 13, 2017, visitors to the geologists' terrace or the Vauban belvedere can see themselves in the photos again. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastille_(Grenoble)
