Comment

Manuel Maria de Barbosa l'Hedois du Bocage (Setúbal, September 15, 1765 - Lisbon, Mercês, December 21, 1805) was a Portuguese national poet and, possibly, the greatest representative of Portuguese arcade. Although an icon of this literary movement, it is a figure inserted in a period of transition from classical to romantic style that will have a strong presence in Portuguese literature of the 19th century. He was a second cousin of the zoologist José Vicente Barbosa du Bocage.
