The Southwest Africa Memorial Medal was donated on March 19, 1907 by King and Kaiser Wilhelm II.
The medal was used to recognize the outstanding achievements, bravery, efforts and privations of the German armed forces in the suppression of the uprisings in South West Africa. The period from January 1904 to March 31, 1907 was decisive. This was awarded to fighters in bronze and to non-fighters in steel. This medal for fighters was awarded to all officers, soldiers, marine engineers, civil servants, equipment and fireworks officers who were sent to South West Africa or who were already stationed there when the fighting began. Furthermore, other people who supported the crackdown with the weapon were honored, including foreigners including the Boers, and members of the voluntary nursing staff at the time. Officials of the field post offices could also be honored if they were active in the interests of the troops. In 1908 the group of those entitled to receive was expanded to include participants in the expedition to the Kalahari. As a commemorative medal, battle clasps were awarded to the participants in the relevant battle.
The following clips are known: HEREROLAND, HERERO-LAND, OMARURU, ONGANJIRA, WATERBERG, OMAHEKE, GROSS-NAMALAND, FAHLGRASS, TOASIS, KARAS-BERGE, KARASBERGE, GROSS-NABAS, AUOB, NURUDAS, NARUDAS, NOSSI KALAH and NOSSOB, ORANJ KALAHARI 1908.

Round medal made of bronze (also gold-plated) at the top a widening of the edge with a hole to accommodate a small ring, with the band ring on it.
