ATHENA
M / s Athena was built as a real cruise ship, without ordinary car tires.
Cruising had become popular when the 24-hour rule was introduced for tax-free purchases just over ten years earlier.
The vessel was built at the Wärtsilävarvet in Turku. It was owned by Rederi AB Slite, which was part of the Viking Line, and was put into service on the Stockholm-Mariehamn route in 1989.
