Translated from https://www.prazskamincovna.cz/medallist/nilisjacques :NILIS, JACQUES (French). Medalist in the last quarter of the 17th century, of whom little is known other than that he engraved several medals in the Louis XIV series, some of which are signed. His name appears in documents from the archives of the Monnaie de Paris, from 1688 to 1693. As Guiffrey suggests, Nilis may have been a relative, and perhaps brother-in-law, of Joseph Roettier, whose first wife was Elizabeth Nilis. This artist's usual signature is N, but it can also be found in other forms: J. NILIS; - J. NILIS F.; - I. NILIS; - NILIS, etc.
