This medal was struck by George B. Soley on the US Mint's first steam powered coinage press between 1860-1880. He purchased the press as scrap from the Mint and refurbished it. Using the press along with collars and blanking dies also purchased from the Mint, he created a version of medals commemorating different events on the obverse and showing the Lord's Prayer on the reverse. The press was donated or sold by his widow in 1927 to the Franklin Institute where it was used to mint their medals. Subsequently, it was refurbished again, and it was used by the ANA to strike medals for the 2000 ANA Convention in Philadelphia, PA. The press is currently on display at the ANA museum in Colorado Springs, CO.
