Two other variations exist: Silver and Bronze. Gold and Silver medals were given to dignitaries and players respectively. The Bronze medals were a commemorative issue sold to the general public of Uruguay.
Trivia:
The most distinctive and original architectural element of the Estadio Centenario (Centenary Stadium) is, without a doubt, the Tower of Tributes (Torre de los Homenajes) which stands out above all the infrastructure as a kind of spire. It has the function of being a viewpoint towards the interior of the stadium and towards the city.
It consists of an independent reinforced concrete building, inserted in the middle of the Olympic Grandstand (south) and has a height of 100 meters. It was declared Historical Heritage of Montevideo.
The architect Juan Scasso was inspired by a similar tower he observed in a stadium in the Netherlands, with the difference that he chose to design it with national symbolism that justify its name: each of the nine balconies of the viewpoint represents the stripes of the flag of Uruguay (five white and four blue), while the base of the tower imitates the wings of an airplane and the bow of a ship, in reference to the arrival of immigrants in the country. The tower is crowned by a flagpole on which a large Uruguayan flag regularly flies.
