The HDAG Heute HADAG (Hafen Dampfschiff Aktien Gesellschaft) was founded in 1888 by Hamburg merchants and lawyers. The formation of this stock corporation was related to the l. Customs connection, which became effective on 18 October 1888, resulted in the creation of rough free-port facilities on a site that could almost exclusively be reached by means of vans. In 1918 the HADAG was taken over by the city of Hamburg and in the following years further Elblinien, which were privately owned and no longer viable.
