Medal awarded to Ainé BAIL.Louis-Alexandre Bottée, born March 14, 1852 in Paris, where he died November 14, 1940, was a French medal engraver. He began his apprenticeship at the age of 13 in a button factory, where he was responsible for engraving models. A student at the École des Arts Décoratifs, he joined Paulin Tasset's workshop in 1869. After graduating from the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1871, he was awarded the first Grand Prix de Rome for medal engraving in 1878. He won a gold medal at the Salon in 1900. Officer of the Légion d'honneur in 1903. Elected member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1930.
