Georg (Georges) Mart, an electrician by training, and his wife Léonie Casper acquired the business in the late 1920s/early 1930s (exact date unknown). Their premises were located at 8, rue Hoehl haute in Esch-sur-Alzette, now rue Pierre Kersch. On May 1, 1938, he opened a second location in Esch, named Chalet Belle Promenade. Following the death of his wife in 1959, Georges Mart ran the establishment alone until his death in 1973.The Café Mart token is not listed in either of R. Weiller's books.
Weiller typology token no. 10, always round, generally in brass, whose intermediate house and mint remain unknown, struck according to Weiller between 1927 and 1932. The present token was therefore probably struck when the establishment opened.
The establishment no longer exists.
