Commonly known as Ringed farthings, Lucky Farthings & Encased farthings, these tokens were produced as an advertising medium for businesses. These items were more popular in the USA where a multitude of examples were produced, by several manufacturers. In the UK there is very little information about these pieces hence my attempt to catalogue any examples that come to light. The main producer of the UK versions was J.R.Gaunt
