This coin was presented to engineer Fermín Bovio by the city of Salta, Argentina, in 1890, in recognition of his efforts in designing and overseeing the construction of a new irrigation system that significantly improved agricultural productivity in the region. The coin features a portrait of Bovio on one side and an allegorical female figure representing the city of Salta on the other, with rivers flowing from her hands and a cactus plant in the background.
