This cast brass ring was used as a fare token for donkey carts by the Dorome tribe of Nigeria (which is otherwise unknown); according to Paul Dillingham: Pricelists 1968-85 (D26-28), the drivers turned them in to the Chiefs, who held the concession, and were paid in bracelets. This may make it an ethnographic token rather than primitive money.
