Comment

Civil War Dog Tag of August Conrad, 1st New Jersey Infantry. Perfect condition, pewter, 30mm, bust of Washington on the front with "George Washington" above and "Security" below, scarce form. Small hole at the top for suspension. Verso covered with the following which is very neatly applied with small individual die stamps, "A. B. Conard [misspelled] / Co. E / 1st N. J. V. / Wt. Point / 7 Days Battle / 2d Bull Run/ Crampton Pass / Antietam / Fredericksburg / Salem Church". Conrad Joined the regiment on May 23, 1861 and was discharged June 23, 1864. The 1st New Jersey was very heavily fought during Conrad's tenure of service, losing 153 killed and mortally wounded. Perfect untouched condition and a great Civil War dog tag.
