Mayor Malangré of the city of Aachen and the mayor of the Italian city of Norcia, Alberto Noveilli, signed on 23 October 1978, a ‘Charta of European Solidarity’ in the town hall of Aachen, committing Aachen and Norcia to joint efforts to unite Europe. The friendship between the two cities is sealed at the reception for the delegation from Norcia.
