Bad Tölz is a town in the Federal Republic of Germany, located between Munich (DE) and Innsbruck (AU).
The 1st version (circa early 1980s) of the "10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) DET. Europe" was manufactured by a local jeweler and was made of a pewter alloy (dull gray in color). This version of the Special Forces medal is very difficult to find. It is characterized by the presence of an umlaut over the "o" in "Bad Tölz". The later version made in the USA (dating from the 90s) has no umlaut.
