Started in 1986, by Ian Kemp and John Hogan, Wesumat was the leading car wash manufacturer in the UK during the late 80's and the 90's, until its merger with California Kleindienst in 2000 to form Washtec as we know it today. Wesumat car washes were, and still are installed in many UK petrol stations, some even years old, are still functioning, like they were rolled off the line. this is because of their robust and efficient design.

Wesumat manufactured many car washes. The SoftWash W86, SoftWash W92 and Evoloution. Then more high speed versions like the Janus launched in 1990 and the SoftWash Duo launched in 1994. The W86 was launched in 1986 and the W92 launched in 1992, a newer version of the W86, but really look the same to the untrained eye. The Janus was typically two W86 systems bolted together and we still see this with the Washtec SoftCare Juno.

In 1993 Wesumat joined with Neptune still under the Wesumat name. In 1996 it was a big year for Wesumat, not only did they launch the SoftWash Select, offering for the first time a 70 bar high pressure wash option and the Scanwash, the first touch free wash machines they also became a limited company and a solely owned subsidiary of Wesumat AG. In 1998 Wesumat started production of the Jet Wash, Vacuum and Air and water tower equipment.
